Fiber Combiner
By means of the fiber combiner produced by IMM, light from several sources (e.g. laser, laser diodes,
High Power LEDs etc.) is merged, or divided beams of one
light source are distributed to several fibers.
Furthermore it is possible in the context of fluorescence-microscopical
applications to illuminate samples with different wave
lengths or to combine several optical signals on a detector.
The fiber ends can be provided with a variety of
different plug standards such as ST, FC, SMA, DIN, E2000
etc., or can be equipped with special ferrules and
adapters according to customer specifications. It is
possible to vary diameter, length and number of the fibers.
Possible areas of application are – among others – a
great variety of sensor applications, in the fields of
biotechnology, medical technology, lighting technology etc.
For instance, the fiber combiner represented in the
illustration consists of four 400 µm HCP fibers at a length
of 300 mm, and its ends are provided with ST plugs.
Fiber Combiner Checklist
1. How many fibers?
2. What overall length do you need?
3. What wavelength(s) will the fiber be handling?
4. What optical power will each fiber be handling?
5. Do you have a fiber preference? (Single or Multi Mode, Core
diameter, etc.)
6. What type of connector do you want?
